TOP PIPE supplies high quality HDPE pipes using PE100 raw material. Our pipes are successfully used in a variety of applications in multiple industry sectors. The application HDPE pipes has grown enormously due to its versatility and the advantages it offers over iron, steel and cement systems.

Over the years, PE100 materials have become recognised as the preferred choice to solve key industry challenges such as corrosion issues and high leakage rates – offering a new generation of leak proof, maintenance free and energy efficient pipeline systems.

TOP PIPE allows cost savings in installation. Trenchless technology can avoid the need for open trenches and reduce the disturbance to the public and environment by pulling long lengths of PE pipes through holes below ground bored by mechanical moles. TOP PIPE is also used in renovation of old pipelines as it can be readily inserted as a structural lining into an old pipeline.

TOP PIPE systems are manufactured to ISO 4427 standards, and carry the KEBS mark of trusted quality and are available in diameters from 20mm up to 450mm, in pressure ranges from PN6 to PN25 in PE100.

We recognise that the most important part of the system is the joint. TOP PIPE provides an extensive solution for the pipes and its fittings.

Fittings can be fabricated for butt welding, extrusion welding (butt fusion) and electrofusion welding.

HDPE fabricated fittings can be made to design according to your individual specifications or alternatively, we are also able to assist in the design process to produce a fitting that meets your exact application need.

HDPE Pipe Features

HDPE Pipes exhibit high impact strength when compared to other materials, thereby enabling them to be highly resistant to damages during handling and installation. They also have high notch sensitivity, which provides great resistance to the effect of external damage. This is especially important for pipe bursting operations or where the risk of such damage is high.

HDPE is a non-conductive polymer and subsequently does not rust or corrode. It also has low reactivity to a wide range of chemicals and substances, enabling HDPE pipes to be used in a variety of applications and industries.

HDPE is lightweight and flexible, which means it does not require heavy lifting equipment for installation. The pipes can be bent to a minum radius of 30x of the outside diameter. Such flexibilty makes HDPE pipes an excellent performer in shifting soils and earthquake-prone areas. HDPE pipes solve many of the unique problems that cannot be fixed arising from the use of rigid concrete, PVC or ductile iron pipes.

TOP PIPE is available in long lengths, which reduces the need for more frequent joints in installation when compared with alternative pipe materials.

Due to HDPE’s physical strength and properties, it has excellent abrasion resistance making it very durable in abrasive slurry applications. Traditional mild steel and rubber-lined steel pipes used in these applications tend to have a shorter lifespan when compared to HDPE.

The inclusion of carbon black in our raw materials provides exceptional protection against UV rays and, therefore, makes TOP PIPE suitable for use in exposed locations.

The surface energy properties of HDPE pipes ensure low friction losses as material deposits within the pipe are prevented. Subsequently, the pipes maintain their internal smoothness and high flow capacity over their lifespan. This also helps to lower pumping costs.

HDPE pipe are joined by a heat fusion process that forms joints that are uniform and leak-free. This design helps eliminate potential leak points every 20 feet which can occur with PVC and ductile iron pipes. This lowers water loss and, therefore, less electricity is needed to process and pump water.

HDPE piping can be joined through multiple methods (see HDPE Joining Techniques section), which means HDPE can be used in a wide variety of applications and installations.

The strength and physical properties of HDPE help safeguard it against damages ensuring high durability of the pipes. As a result, they have proved to have excellent reliability in a multitude of industries and a very long lifespan.

HDPE piping systems have become the favoured choice for trenchless installation which minimises restoration and roadway reconstruction costs. It also allows for the pipes to be installed under rivers and lakes with significantly less disruption to the environment around it. HDPE pipes can also be used in directional drilling, microtunneling, pipe bursting and slip lining.

TOP PIPE is available in a range of coloured stripes to allow for easy identification of the pipe and its use. The pipes are also stamped with the all relevant information at regular intervals along the length of the pipe.

Due to HDPE’s flexibility and its need for fewer joints, installation costs are much lowercompared to other types of pipes. Furthermore, HDPE pipes are durable against leaks and bursts and, hence, require less repairs and maintenance.

The application of HDPE pipes for water distribution results in energy efficiency through reduced electric consumption, resulting in a lower carbon footprint. Additionally, HDPE’s leak-free fusion technology ensures no toxins from sewage is released into the ground or potable water supply.
